Argentum Translations is a women-owned family business that provides language services in over 50 languages.

We can help you overcome language and cultural barriers, expand your business into new markets, connect with the entire non-English speaking community and set yourself apart from your competition.

SERVICES

Translation

We specialize in translating technical, medical and scientific documents, as well as audiovisual and marketing material. We work with a network of credentialed and professional translators from all over the world and we can translate from and into more than 50 languages. We provide certified translations with the ATA certification.

Localization

Localization involves adapting your message to the cultural standards of a specific target market. Tailoring a message to an audience makes it resonate locally and fit into the local conventions in terms of codes, graphics, style, humor, beliefs and more.

Transcreation

Transcreation involves adapting the message of a text to give the content the look and feel of having been created specifically for the target market. It is mostly used in the advertising and marketing fields. It is a blend of translation and creative writing.

Editing and Proofreading

We provide editing and proofreading services to meet the highest standards. All the meaning, readability, spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are corrected and all the inconsistencies are resolved. Your content will also be checked on an extra-linguistic level to ensure cultural adequacy.

Subtitling and Dubbing

Subtitling keeps the original spoken language in the background while adding translated text to the front, whereas dubbing replaces the audio completely with audio recorded in the target language.

Desktop Publishing (DTP)

DTP is the edition of translated documents with graphic design software to recreate the original format and layout, taking into consideration the linguistic, cultural and typography norms of your audience. We can deliver translations in InDesign, Illustrator, Publisher and other complex formats.

Our names are Cynthia and Paula Penovi and we are identical twin sisters who started our journey as translators around 10 years ago in Argentina. We are the co-owners of Argentum Translations, a minority and women-owned family business that provides translation and language services for businesses. Our company was born as an initiative to break down language barriers for our community and build strong linguistic and cultural bridges so that everybody can communicate as if they spoke the same language and shared the same culture.

You should be targeting the Hispanic population to grow your business and set yourself apart. Hispanics are not only the fastest growing population in the U.S., but also the largest minority population in the nation, which is now the world’s second largest Spanish-speaking country. The Hispanic buying power alone makes the Hispanic market within the U.S. one of the most important World Economies, and now laws are changing in favor of language access for Hispanics and the LEP population. False Friends: the Adoption of Foreign Terminology in English<>Spanish Medical Translation and Interpretation

As we all know, communication is critical to ensure successful healthcare. Lexical borrowings, calques and literal translations that may sound natural to the untrained ear could end up leading away from the meaning that was originally conveyed, while contributing to the impoverishment and erosion of the target language. That is why today I am going to share some insight into four of the most common false friends that I have encountered in the medical setting, their polysemy and some lexical equivalents and alternatives. Simple words like "condition", "severe", "intoxicated", and "control" may not be translated into Spanish the way you imagined.
